Estación Biológica Tamandua

Located just 4 km from Drake Bay town, Tamandua Biological Station is located into the Golfo Dulce Forestry Reserve and limits with the Corcovado National Park. We have an amazing tropical forest and a rich biodiversity. The property has its own trails where you can enjoy beautifull waterfalls, natural swimming holes and lots of animals.
We have three boungalows and shared bathrooms; everything is simple but very confortable. A resting area with hammoks next to the river, a nice dinning room surrounded by a beautifull garden and the kitchen where we prepare costarrican food or you can also cook by your self if you want.
This is a special place for nature lovers, you can enjoy the jungle sounds; during the morning lots of birds are singing in the garden and at night lots of insects and frogs come to sing next to the river.
We offer guided tours (night tour, horseback ridding, bird watching tour,waterfalls tour) and also the hiking tours into Corcovado National Park and snorkeling or scuba diving tour at Caño Island Biological Reserve.
During the dry season 4x4 cars can get to Tamandua, during the rainy season the access is posible by horse, quad or hiking but not by car.
To get to Drake Bay from San José you may take the TRACOPA bus to Palmar Norte, take a taxi to Sierpe and then take the boat to Drake Bay, it will take about 7 hours. The other option is to fly from San Jose to Drake Bay, it takes just 40 min, you can check with Sansa and Nature Air airlines.
